Loofa Plant

Has anyone heard of this loofa plant? I planted mine just a few weeks ago and it is already coming up. The plant grows a fruit that you can eat like a melon, but you leave it on the vine to dry and use it in the shower as a sponge. I can’t wait to give it a try.

It is strawberry picking time in our part of the world and the berries are turning red fast. Everyday we all gather in the garden to pick the days berries before the rabbits can get to them. We have had a hard time keeping rabbits out of the garden. We have tried a low fence, moth balls, cut hair, and even our dog won’t chase the bunnies anymore. Any suggestions?

What types of things do you do for entertainment? During the summer and fall months we love to go camping. We take the kids hiking, horseback riding, and swimming at the state parks. We also have to visit the nature centers and local parks in that area. One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to look for local products. We have found a 92 year old man that makes maple syrup, others that make cheese, jam, honey, and other products.

Do you use natural cleaning methods for your home? We use baking soda for a good scrub on sinks and rinse with vinegar. Also Murphy Oil soap is natural for wood or laminate floors. We have also discovered Shaklee products which are organic concentrates that work wonders. We use the Basic H concentrate and add a few drops of essential oil for a pleasant smell.

We like to buy our produce and meat products at the local farmer’s market. It the world on gas for transporting and is grown organically.
